GUITAR MAKING WORKSHOP by Maestro Adolfo Toyoda Timuat

The next best thing to playing the guitar is building one. Learn the basics of the great spanish guitar-making tradition from Maestro Adolfo Toyoda Timuat and experience what it takes to create a masterpiece. Workshop Registration fee is inclusive of guitar kit (top: Engelman Spruce; back and sides: Dao; neck: African Sapele; fretboard: Robles also known as Philippine Snakewood and hardware (strings and machine heads). Tools are provided for use during the workshop.

Course Description: A demonstration/workshop on how to effectively maximize benefits during practice periods and somehow avoid injuries related to bad playing habits. RamoncitoCarpio will share his valuable insights that helped him to be one of the brightest classical guitar personalities in the country today.

SOLVING RHYTHMIC PROBLEMS AND IMPROVING SIGHT READING SKILLS (Workshop) By Michael Dadap
Course Description: With the advent of Youtube and the internet, musicians can easily access tutorial videos. Although it is perfectly okay to learn from these platforms, working on your note reading skills is just as important. Maestro Dadap will guide us on how to develop this essential skill and dispel the many different notions towards note reading.

FLAMENCO TECHNIQUES AND RHYTHMS (Workshop) by Grisha Goryachev
Course Description: An Introduction to Flamenco guitar playing that covers the basic building blocks of this highly technical guitar art form. Maestro Grisha is considered to be one of the very best guitar players in the world right now both in Flamenco and Classical guitar. A rare feat. No less than the late Paco de Lucia recognized his genius and helped introduce Grisha to a wider audience early in his career.

THE GUITAR IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER INSTRUMENTS (Lecture) by Michael Dadap
Course Description: A masterclass on musicianship for guitarists, strings and other chamber musicians. Understanding the weakness and strength of the different instruments in an ensemble setting can help bring out the best in everyone. Michael Dadap, concert guitarist and orchestral conductor, will define for us the do’s and dont’s in chamber music.

BOSSA NOVA COMPING, RHYTHM AND CHORD VOICINGS (Workshop) by Bob Basa
Course Description: Brazilian guitar music is very rich in tradition. With its sophisticated voicings and chord changes, its one of the most challenging styles to learn on the guitar. Bob Basa, a Filipino US based expert on Brazilian guitar styles, will help us unravel the musical genius of Jao, Jobim and company.

MASTERCLASS by Manuel Rubio
Course Description: A one on one coaching session with Manuel Rubio for guitarists wanting to gain a new perspective on a particular piece they are working on. 6 slots only for playing participants. Observers are allowed.
